Frequently Asked Questions
Can you replace just one misted pane in a bay window?
Yes. We replace individual sealed units in bay windows regularly. Provided the frame is in good condition, there's no need to replace the whole window.
Why do bay windows seem to fail more often than flat-front windows?
Bay windows are structurally separate from the main wall. They move slightly with temperature changes and settle over time — and this movement stresses the sealed unit edges. Poor drainage (which is common in bays) accelerates seal failure.
Can my bay window be replaced with aluminium or is it uPVC only?
Both are available. Aluminium is increasingly popular for bay windows because the slim profile better matches the visual proportions of the original timber. We'll advise on which is more appropriate for your property.
Is bay window replacement more expensive than flat-front windows?
Yes, typically — because bay windows require precise angle cutting at the joints, matching three frames to a non-standard geometry, and more complex installation. Contact us for a specific quote.
