Types of Sealed Units We Supply & Fit

Standard Double Glazed Units

The most common request. We supply 28mm units (4mm–16mm–4mm with warm-edge spacer and argon gas) as our standard specification. A-rated for energy efficiency.

Obscure & Frosted Sealed Units

For bathrooms, ensuites and privacy applications. We match the original obscure glass pattern (Satin, Cotswold, Stippolyte, etc.) so the replacement is indistinguishable from surrounding windows.

Toughened Safety Glass Units

Required by building regulations for low-level glazing, patio doors, shower screens and certain staircase positions. We supply units with toughened inner and/or outer panes to meet Part K requirements.

Acoustic Sealed Units

For properties near busy roads, motorways or Heathrow flight paths, we offer laminated acoustic glass sealed units that significantly reduce noise compared to standard double glazing.

Triple Glazed Units

For maximum thermal performance. Triple glazed units add an extra pane and gas cavity, reducing heat loss to near-Passivhaus levels. Available in standard sizes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why has condensation appeared inside my double glazing?

When a sealed unit fails, the hermetic seal between the two panes breaks down. Moisture-laden air enters the cavity and condenses on the inner glass surfaces. This can't be wiped away — the unit needs to be replaced.

Can condensation in double glazing be fixed without replacing the glass?

No. Once the seal has failed, the unit cannot be repaired — only replaced. However, replacing just the glass unit (not the frame) is typically much cheaper than a full window replacement.

How do I know if my sealed unit has failed or if it's just surface condensation?

Surface condensation on the inside of your room appears in cold weather and clears as the room warms up. Condensation between the panes doesn't clear — if it's there in the afternoon and stays, your unit has failed.

How long does the replacement take?

Once we have your unit in stock, the physical replacement usually takes 30–60 minutes per window. We try to complete the work in a single visit.

Do replacement sealed units come with a guarantee?

Yes. Our replacement sealed units carry a manufacturer's guarantee. We'll confirm the specific terms when we quote.

What information do I need to provide for a quote?

Ideally: the width and height of the glass (not the frame), whether the glass is clear or obscure, and the thickness of the existing unit if you can measure it. If you're unsure, we can come and measure for you — free of charge.
