Frequently Asked Questions
Can obscure glass be toughened?
Most common patterns — Satin, Cotswold, Stippolyte, Taffeta, Everglade, Ice — are available toughened. More decorative patterns may have limited availability in toughened form. We'll confirm what's available when you contact us.
How much obscurity does Level 3 give?
At Level 3, shapes and outlines are not clearly distinguishable through the glass. You can tell someone is on the other side of the glass but you can't see clearly who they are or what they're doing. This is appropriate for most bathrooms, WCs and front door panels.
Can you match an existing obscure glass pattern?
Often yes — send us a photograph of the existing glass or bring a small sample and we'll identify the pattern. We do this regularly.
Is frosted window film the same as obscure glass?
No. Frosted film is a self-adhesive film applied to standard clear glass. It's cheaper upfront but doesn't last as long (typically 5–10 years before peeling or yellowing), can be removed easily, and doesn't look the same as genuine textured glass.
