The most common fire glazing job: replacing a cracked, missing or non-compliant vision panel in a fire door. The replacement glass must match the door's fire rating (typically E30 or E60) and must be installed in a way that maintains the door's certified performance — using appropriate beading, intumescent seals and fixings.
We supply and fit replacement fire door vision panels for timber and metal fire doors across all common sizes.
Where a glass partition or screen forms a fire compartment boundary — between a corridor and a stairwell, between flat communal areas and individual dwellings, or within a commercial fit-out — the glazing must be rated to the required period and specification.
We supply EI-rated intumescent glass panels (typically Pilkington Pyrostop or equivalent) for applications where both integrity and insulation performance is required.
Glazed screens enclosing protected escape staircases in commercial buildings and blocks of flats. These require EI-rated glazing — maintaining both integrity (no flame spread) and insulation (limiting radiated heat) — typically for 30 or 60 minutes.

A fire door is a certified assembly — the door leaf, frame, hinges, seals and glazed panel must all be compatible with the door's certified performance. Replacing a fire door vision panel with non-certified glass, or using the wrong bead or intumescent seal, can invalidate the door's fire rating even if the glass itself is fire rated.
We always install fire door glass using the manufacturer's specified bead and seal system to maintain the door's certification. If the door's certification details are not available, we can advise on the appropriate approach.

Your building's fire strategy (drawn up at design stage) specifies where fire rated glazing is needed.
Yes — provided the replacement glass matches the door's specification and is installed with the correct bead and intumescent seal. We supply and fit replacement fire door vision panels.
E (integrity) — the glass maintains a barrier against flames and hot gases but allows radiated heat to pass through. EI (integrity + insulation) — the glass also limits radiated heat transmission. EI is required for applications where people may be in close proximity to the glass during a fire.
Yes. Modern intumescent glass products (borosilicate, ceramic, intumescent laminated) provide good visual clarity in normal use. Wired glass is less clear but still provides adequate vision through a fire door panel.
