What Are French Doors?
French doors are a pair of outward-opening glazed doors, typically installed as a rear entrance from a kitchen or dining room to a garden. They're hinged at the outside edges, meeting in the middle with an astragal bar or a flush meeting stile.
They're a more traditional aesthetic than bi-fold or sliding doors — appropriate for period properties and any situation where a rectilinear, symmetrical rear opening is the right look.
French Door Options
- uPVC French doors — competitively priced, thermally efficient, low maintenance; available in white, grey, Anthracite and woodgrain finishes
- Aluminium French doors — slimmer profiles, any powder coat colour; sharper contemporary appearance; preferred for extensions and more design-conscious clients
- Glazed panels — can be extended with fixed side panels for a wider opening with the same door set width
- Multi-point locking — standard on both uPVC and aluminium; shoot bolts into head and cill as well as main lock point
