French Door & Patio Door Installation in Uxbridge & West London

AMB Glass supplies and installs French doors and sliding patio doors for residential properties across Uxbridge and West London. Both door types open up living spaces to gardens and terraces — French doors swing outward on hinges; sliding patio doors run on a track, requiring no clearance space outside.

We work in uPVC and aluminium, and advise on which is most appropriate for the property and application. FENSA registration is included for all qualifying installations.

Specialist Glazing Products

What Are French Doors?

French doors are a pair of outward-opening glazed doors, typically installed as a rear entrance from a kitchen or dining room to a garden. They're hinged at the outside edges, meeting in the middle with an astragal bar or a flush meeting stile.

They're a more traditional aesthetic than bi-fold or sliding doors — appropriate for period properties and any situation where a rectilinear, symmetrical rear opening is the right look.

French Door Options

  • uPVC French doors — competitively priced, thermally efficient, low maintenance; available in white, grey, Anthracite and woodgrain finishes
  • Aluminium French doors — slimmer profiles, any powder coat colour; sharper contemporary appearance; preferred for extensions and more design-conscious clients
  • Glazed panels — can be extended with fixed side panels for a wider opening with the same door set width
  • Multi-point locking — standard on both uPVC and aluminium; shoot bolts into head and cill as well as main lock point

Sliding Patio Doors

What Are Sliding Patio Doors?

Patio doors are two or more glazed panels on an aluminium track — one or both slide horizontally, requiring no clearance space in front of the door. For spaces where outward-opening French doors would obstruct a patio or terrace, a sliding door solves the problem.

Patio Door Options

  • 2-panel sliding patio — one fixed, one sliding; the most common configuration; widths typically 1.5m to 3m
  • 3-panel sliding patio — two panels in one direction, one fixed; for wider openings
  • Lift-and-slide systems — the panel lifts fractionally on opening to disengage from the weather seal, then glides smoothly on the track; significantly better weather performance than standard sliding doors
  • Inline sliding — wider format systems; panels run in parallel tracks

Both uPVC and aluminium patio doors are available. Aluminium is preferred for contemporary properties and for larger patio door systems where the frame weight makes slim profiles essential.
