A composite door consists of:

  • GRP outer skin — moulded to replicate the grain, raised panels and moulding of a traditional timber door; highly impact-resistant and UV-stable
  • Solid foam core — typically 70–100mm of high-density polyurethane foam; excellent thermal insulation
  • Timber sub-frame — reinforces the slab and provides solid fixing points for hinges and lock
  • Steel-reinforced uPVC or aluminium frame — the outer frame is fixed to the structural opening

The result is a door that won't warp, rot, fade or crack — and has a lifespan measured in decades rather than years.

Security

Composite doors are inherently more secure than hollow or skinned uPVC doors. Our range includes:

  • Multi-point locking as standard (typically 5-point)
  • Anti-snap, anti-pick, anti-drill cylinder lock
  • Reinforced steel deadbolt throw
  • Solid hinge bolts on opposite edge to lock

How Installation Works

Are composite doors better than uPVC doors?

For front doors, composite doors are generally a better choice — they look more like timber, are more thermally efficient, and are more secure. uPVC panel doors remain a good choice for back and side doors where appearance is less critical.

Do composite doors fade?

The GRP skin is UV-stable and the colour is integral to the material rather than a paint coat — so composite doors retain their colour significantly better than painted timber or some uPVC alternatives. Some colours (particularly darker ones) may show minor fading after many years of direct sun exposure, but this is rarely a concern in UK conditions.

Can I have a composite door with glass panels?

Yes. Many composite door styles incorporate decorative glass panels — in obscure glass patterns, bevelled designs or simple clear glass. All glazed panels are toughened to comply with building regulations.

How long does installation take?

A composite door replacement is typically completed in a single morning or afternoon. We remove the old door and frame, fit the new frame and door, and make good the surround.
